Abstract

This paper discusses the instrumentation process that was developed to measure teachers’ attitudes towards egalitarian education in context of multiracial society. In this present paper, the researchers have developed a survey to assess a previously unexplored construct (teachers’ attitudes towards egalitarian education), researchers have employed an eight-step process: (1) Operationalizing the meaning of attitudes towards egalitarian education, (2) Identifying a theoretical framework on attitudes towards egalitarian education (3) Exploring dimensions of attitudes from focus group discussion, (4) Drafting preliminary items on egalitarian education based on focus group findings, (5) Validating the content of the attitudes towards egalitarian education items via expert judgment,    (6) Conducting a pilot test of the attitudes towards egalitarian education scale, and (7) Finalizing the attitudes towards egalitarian education scale. The process of developing a self-developed questionnaire needs to be taken very carefully so that it can accurately measure the issues raised in this study. This study has provided clear information on how the Egalitarian Education Attitudes Scaleis implemented.
